Singtam Police Seize Commercial Quantity of Contraband Capsules; Two Arrested
Gangtok:7th Feb:On the basis of credible source information, a team of Singtam Police apprehended two individuals near the gate of Supreme Juice Factory, Chisopani, Sikkim, for suspicious movement and suspected possession of contraband substances.
The arrested persons have been identified as Phurba Tshering Bhutia (31 years), S/o Tensing Bhutia, R/o Sirwani, Sakyoung GPU, and Rajen Darjee (40 years), S/o Hasta Bdr. Darjee, R/o Chisopani, Sirwani GPU. Both individuals had been under police surveillance for a considerable period.
During personal search, 1296 Spasmo-Proxyvon capsules (commercial quantity) were recovered from their possession and seized following due legal procedure.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Shri Kishor Chettri, SHO, Singtam Police Station, who has earlier led several successful anti-drug operations during his previous posting at Melli Police Station. After assuming charge at Singtam Police Station a few weeks ago, he continues to actively supervise and lead operations against drug trafficking.
Accordingly, a case under the relevant sections of the Sikkim Anti-Drugs Act (SADA) has been registered at Singtam Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
Singtam Police reiterates its commitment to strict enforcement of anti-drug laws and appeals to the public to cooperate and share information to help curb drug abuse and trafficking.
