Gangtok/ Darjeeling: 26th Jan: MP Raju Bista said, that in the aftermath of the devastating landslide that struck Darjeeling Hills in October 2025, which caused immense loss of life and property, he had committed to providing financial assistance to the victims. And he has provided the first installment assistance of ₹1 lakh each to 12 affected families from salary and personal funds, as a contribution for their house building.
Further, he had committed ₹50 lakh from the MPLAD funds for the construction of the Fanchaytar-Fedi Khola road, under Rimbick-Lodhoma Samasty.Accordingly, he sanctioned the funds and forwarded the necessary recommendation to the District Magistrate’s Office on 19 October 2025 itself. In addition, he had also sanctioned ₹10 lakh for the reconstruction of the Lodhoma Public Ground.
- ‘ I am utterly dismayed to note that the Darjeeling District Magistrate’s Office is yet to release the allocated funds. I am not sure, if this delay stems from sheer incompetence, or deliberate political malice on the part of District Administration, which is preventing the utilisation of the resources essential for restoring vital infrastructures,’ said MP.
