Namchi, 17th Jan: Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AHVS) Department, Namchi, received information regarding the sudden deaths of pigeons in Namchi Bazaar.
The veterinary team immediately visited the affected locations and carried out field investigations, today.
Examination of the affected pigeons revealed symptoms such as ruffled feathers, greenish diarrhoea, torticollis and death. The team coordinated with Gangtok Headquarters, State Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (SADDL), and biological samples were dispatched to Gangtok for further disease investigation. Preventive measures, including provision of medicines at different locations and disinfection of surrounding areas, were carried out.( AH&VS).
