Gangtok:4th Jan: A Book ‘ Chronicles of Former Himalayan Kingdom’ was launched by Miss Kipu Lepcha joined by Prince Jigme Namgyal ,Bharat Basnet ,Tse Ten Tashi Lepcha and others was released at a local hotel on Sunday,here.
Sapkota,President, Sikkimese Moolbasi Suraksha Sangthan, said, ‘ The book is compilation of Sikkim’s history , which our younger generation should know. We want the book to be available to the students. It has been based on documents.
Passang Tshering Lepcha ,highlighting the importance of Article 371 F ,the Special Constitutional provision for Sikkim, said it should be taught in the Academic institutions also. ‘
Norbu Doma Bhutia, delivered a talk about the book projecting history and cultural identity of Sikkim.
The authors,include Ratanlal Sapkota,Thendup Bhutia,Passang Tshering Lepcha and Tshering Pintso Lepcha,mostly Social activists.
SMBSS made it a point to thank Politicians Tse Ten Tashi Bhutia SIBLAC, Bharat Basnet and rtd bureaucrats PK Pradhan, Sonam Wangdi Bhutia and a couple of others for cooperation.
The book contains 251 pages and is priced at Rs 2500/-.It touches certain points not much heard of earlier.
