Irregularities in Recruitment of Assistant Managers by State Bank of Sikkim:CA
Gangtok, Dec::Comptroller and Auditor General of India’s has observed that’ audit noticed candidates scoring lesser marks in written examination were selected for the post of Assistant Manager. ‘Candidates scoring high marks were not selected. Those scoring as low as 26-42 marks were called for interview and got selected. But those scoring 55-69 were not called even for interview.
Other important issue observed included illicit transaction .’Substantial funds amounting to Rs 3.65 crore had been deposited into the Bank’s employees personal accounts from 166 loanees account,out of which in 64 instances amounting to Rs 1.29 crore,the date of deposit in employee’s personal account s corresponded directly to the date of loan to the loanees,’according to CAG report -2 of 2025 .Report is on the performance audit on functioning of SBS , year ended 2023.The report has been presented to the State Legislative Assembly.
GAG has recommended formation of a policy to prevent fraud and to look into the cases.
The State Bank of Sikkim,established by the proclamation of then king Chogyal Palden Thondup Namgyal in 1968 , is not regulated by the Reserve Bank of India.
