Soreng: 19th Nov: In a major breakthrough, the Soreng District Police has successfully solved and arrested the accused in a digital arrest cyber fraud case involving a scam amounting to ten lakh rupees. The complaint was reported to Sombaria Police Station on August 22,
‘To curb Drug menace, Sikkim Police has initiated a sustained cybercrime prevention drive across the state. As part of this initiative, continuous awareness campaigns are being conducted in educational institutions, civil society organisations and NGOs,’ according to SP Soreng’ office.
‘Demonstrating our commitment to combating cybercrime, a team from the Soreng District Police successfully tracked and arrested an accused linked to an inter-state cybercriminal network from Punjab. The case involved the fraudulent extortion of ten lakh rupees from a retired government employee through a method commonly known as “digital arrest.” The complaint had been lodged through the official cybercrime reporting portal,said SP Nahkul Pradhan.
