MP Darjeeling Raju Bista Appreciates Selection of Darj as Aspiring Distt
Gangtok: 27th Sept : Raju Bista MP Darjeeling, has expressed happiness at Government of India selecting Darjeeling district for six years in 100 agriculture aspiring districts under Prime Minister Financial Agriculture Scheme (PMDDKY).
MP has shared , ‘Despite a district with extreme potential for agricultural excellence, farmers in our region are struggling to increase their productivity, and put their products in the international market due to the constant neglect of agriculture by the West Bengal government.’
Reacting to the letter received from Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan sharing the good news,MP Bista expressed hope that it will serve the purpose,addressing the shortcomings.
Highlighting ,PMDDKY MP has said, ‘It aims to increase agricultural productivity, increase crop diversification and sustainable agricultural practices, increase storage system after harvest,
at Panchayat and block levels, improve irrigation facilities and facilitate long-term and short-term loan availability. The scheme will actively address all the shortcomings in it and also partnership with the states, aligning the existing plans of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department (DA&FW) and other related ministries/departments in select districts’.
MP Bista has expressed full confidence in the Scheme.’I have full hope that we will be able to plan and encourage sustainable agriculture and farming holistic planning and encourage it, and increase the livelihood and economic level of farmers of Chopra Block in our Darjeeling and Kalebung districts and North Dinajpur,’said MP.
