Ayurveda Stands as a Ray of Hope :Sikkim Chief Minister PS Tamang
Gangtok,23rd Sept : Chief Minister PS Tamang has greeted all on the occasion of the 10th Ayurveda Day 2025.’ I extend my heartfelt greetings to all, as we bow in reverence to Lord Dhanvantari, the divine symbol of health and healing, and reaffirm our collective commitment to the eternal wisdom and tradition of Ayurveda,’ CM said..
‘Ayurveda heals not only the body but also the soul. It is a matter of pride for us that a fully independent AYUSH Department has now been established in Sikkim. This historic step will ensure focused policies, adequate resources, and systematic development for traditional systems of medicine in the state.’
CM has added , ‘This year’s theme, “Ayurveda for People and Planet”, beautifully reflects our vision. At a time when stress, pollution, and lifestyle-related ailments are on the rise, Ayurveda stands as a ray of hope. It offers holistic and preventive healthcare, fostering harmony within body, mind, and soul while promoting coexistence with nature.’
‘If we recall the times of the global pandemic COVID-19, the Ayurveda system played a crucial role in society. It emerged as a ray of hope for all of us, something that can never be forgotten.’
‘The state of Sikkim has already laid a strong foundation for AYUSH. Under the guidance of the Ministry of AYUSH, we have set up a Panchakarma Centre at STNM Hospital, a 50-bedded AYUSH hospital at Gyalshing, and special AYUSH Wings in district hospitals and primary health centres for the benefit of the public. On behalf of the people and Government of Sikkim, I express heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of AYUSH.’
‘Building upon this strong foundation, our goal is to make Sikkim a model state for AYUSH. By harnessing our rich biodiversity, pristine environment, and traditional knowledge, we aim to promote wellness, research, and medical tourism’.
‘Our vision is to integrate AYUSH into mainstream healthcare, expand opportunities for education and training, and inspire our youth to become doctors, practitioners, researchers, and experts in medicinal plants. With these efforts, I am confident that Sikkim will emerge as a leader in AYUSH at the national level and as a global destination for holistic healthcare.’
