Gangtok,19th August :Sukhim Yakthung Sapsok Songchumbho (SYSS) has strongly objected to the dress design of Ms. Jackielynn Pradhan, contestant of Miss Universe India 2025.
SYSS ,has said, ‘I t has been observed that Ms. Jackielynn Pradhan one of the contestants, in her recent appearance, wore an ornament like SAMYANGPHUNG below her waist at the front, which is highly objectionable. Samyangphung is not a mere ornament-it is a sacred cultural symbol of the Limboo Tribal community, traditionally worn with reverence on the head by Limbooni women.’
‘Placing such a sacred symbol inappropriately is a matter of deep cultural insensitivity and hurtful to the sentiments of the entire Limboo community. On behalf of all Sikkimese Limboos, SYSS strongly condemns this act. MR. BIJAY SUBBA has circulated video giving clarification which is not at all satisfactory to the entire Limboo Community of Sikkim. After that one Vhaibhav Yadav (designer) has circulated one video wherein he said that the same is from “EGYPTIAN QUEEN MOTIF” which is not at all correct and satisfactory. SYSS on behalf of entire Limboo Tribal community of Sikkim condemns the clarification as well as the costume designed. If proper clarification is not provided SYSS will initiate a strict action against the concern person involved,’ added SYSS.
