koGovernor OP Mathur and CM PS Tamang visit ‘Sawayam Sikkim’ SRLM stalls
Gangtok,12th August : Governor and Chief Minister accompanied by Minister Arun Upreti,of host Department,visited the Exhibition cum sale at MG Marg ,here today. The exhibition was put up along with Har GHar Tiranga Mission to showcase Sikkim Swayam.
The stalls put up by the Self Help Groups,under Rural Livelihood Mission,presented ‘Swayam Sikkim’ all the products made in Sikkim.CM Tamang interacted with the members of each SHG and asked about their products.
The exhibited items included, food stuff,pickles,woolen and cotton garments,particularly ethnic dresses.The quality products were packaged in a very professional; way .
Speaking to this Reporter,SHG members expressed gratitude towards CM PS Tamang and Minister Arun Upreti.
Deepa Sharma,SHG member said,” I make hairbands for women buying raw material wool etc from Gangtok and Siliguri.Sometimes individually and otherwise in a group.I have a facebook page of my own through it also our products are sold.’
Anita Tamang,from Nandok block said, ‘We have been provided opportunity on the occasion of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ mission ,to showcase our skills.I am here with my SHG Aparajeeta group,we are sent to other parts of country also to exhibit our pickles and other items and sell.We have visited Tripura,J&k and many more.It was really good to give us from Rural area , opportunity to put up stalls in a City.I being a single parent,a widow find the mission very helpful .I am thankful.I mostly sell pickles these are all home made,’
