Gangtok,2nd August:It was a boon to see 2 Red Pandas cubs,in the Himalayan Zoological Park,here.The cubs born on 15th June 2025 are hardly more than a month and a half now.
The happy parents Lucky-II and Mirak perching on the tree leaving the cubs undisturbed was a pleasant sight The lovely brownish hairy couple with a long tail looked here and there ,perhaps to ensure security for their cubs,yet to be named.
- Dr M Zangmu Lachungpa,Zoo Conservator- cum Vet.Sikkim Himalayan Zoological Park,was happy to say that so far they have had 48 Red Pandas,as per record,since 1997.The two new cubs will be named after sometime ,when they open eyes .
‘Their habitat needs to be protected’,Lachungpa stressed for public awareness ‘.
