A high-level delegation of the Sikkim Teachers Association (STA) recently held a productive engagement with the Union Minister of State on 25Th July 2025 at his residence to discuss the long-standing issue of Sikkim’s formal membership in the National Foundation for Teachers’ Welfare (NFTW)and other matters related to teachers’ welfare and professional development.
During the meeting, attended by the Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Sikkim, the STA delegation emphasized the need for expedited completion of Sikkim’s integration into NFTW national welfare schemes. The Minister of State assured the association of his support and highlighted the Foundation’s commitment to providing relief and welfare to teachers and their dependents who are in need, as well as promoting various schemes that recognize and honor the contributions of educators nationally.
The meeting was marked by the active participation and backing of the Hon’ble MP (Lok Sabha) from Sikkim, whose interventions strengthened the association’s case for parity and recognition at the national level.
On the same visit, STA members also made a courtesy call to the Rajya Sabha MP from Sikkim, updating him on the outcomes of the central discussion and expressing gratitude for his ongoing advocacy for the teaching fraternity in Parliament.
The STA extends its thanks to both members of Parliament and the Union Minister for their time, encouragement, and positive assurances. The Association looks forward to swift and constructive action on all discussed issues, working collaboratively to uplift teachers’ welfare and educational outcomes in Sikkim.
