Gangtok,18thJuly : Sadar Thana has released the Citizen Action Party Youth leaders today ,they were arrested, consequent upon FIR by SP Vigilance,after party workers had visited Vigilance Office on Thursday.The CAP workers have been visiting State Govt Offices to convince Govt Employees ,including Officers to give up their posts secured after due retirement and to enjoy ‘Pension Not Position ‘,in the interest of the Unemployed,stagnating employees and State treasury.The campaign has landed them in trouble 4 of them were attacked in darkness by masked men. One of them was given 23 stitches at his back.Other three injured have been under medical treatment since last night. .
Today BJP Sikkim leaders visited Sadar Police Station met the officers.The party has condemned the arrest of CAP Youth leaders and attack on some of them.
BJP Sikkim Spokesperson Passang Sherpa has demanded arrest of culprits within a week.He lamented no arrests since last evening. He has condemned it as shameful incident.In the meantime BJP leaders have visited hospital to look up the victims.
Sikkim Democratic Front Party functionaries also visited hospital and met those victims who are under treatment.The Party Spokesperson Krishna Kharel has condemned it as an attack on Democracy.
In the meantime SDPO Mingyur T Nadik has stated that a case Under Section 121 (2) 127(2) and other relevant sections of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita ,based on complaint been registered,At 10.30 party members were attacked.It did not happen in the Police Station premises as reports circulated by certain Social Media.Police has registered 2nd case against unknown persons (attackers) at Sadar Thana u/s 117(2)118(1) and 118(3) (5) of the Bhartiya Nayaya Sanhita The attackers ran away But police is making efforts to locate them with the help of CCTV footage.
