Gangtok: Sikkim chapter of All India Buddhist Forum to March through the town here in a peaceful rally on 26th April ’25.Sonam G Sherpa ,representing Sherpas ,has invited all the Buddhists and others to join the Peace Rally.’ The Rally will be organised in solidarity with those demanding repeal of Bodhgaya Temple Act 1949.The temple needs to be managed by only Buddhists,’ The others ( Hindus)are 5 in number ,said he.
Sangay Gyatso,said ,’ having only 4 members on the Temple Management Committee out of total 9 is not acceptable.Hence the rally here in support of those protesting in Bodhgaya since long’.
Others present during media interaction include Sonam Dorjee Lepcha IRS ( RTD Secy ) representing his community,Sushma Tamang her community and Ongay Lama Convenor Sikkim Chapter AI BF.
However,it’s to mention here that Hindus believe Lord Buddha to be 9th incarnation of Lord Vishnu.And the temple in question was constructed by Emperor Ashoka.
