Singtam:7th Nov: Acting on specific and reliable source information regarding the transportation of suspected contraband substances/controlled drugs, Singtam Police Station,East Sikkim, promptly mobilised a police team comprising PI Laxuman Gajmer, Lnk Birkha Bdr. Chettri, Lk Deepak Pokhrel and SA Sandip Dahal, under the supervision and direction of SHO, Singtam Police Station, Insp. Kishor Kr. Chettri, to intercept a suspected vehicle bearing Registration No. WB73D-5844.
During the operation, the police team successfully intercepted the vehicle and apprehended its driver, identified as Rohan Rai (28 years), S/o Late Arun Rai, R/o 20 Mile, Lower Kandung, West Bengal. Upon thorough examination of the vehicle, contraband substances were recovered. The accused was subsequently arrested in connection with the seizure of a commercial quantity of contraband substances.
In this connection, a case has been registered at Singtam Police Station under the relevant provisions of law. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the seized substances and to identify other individuals who may be involved in the illegal drug trafficking network.
