Gangtok:3rd Nov:( Nita Nirash) Union Minister for Animal Husbandry& Dairying, Fisheries ,Panchayati Raj ,Rajiv Ranjan ,has highlighted importance of Siri cows. He said Centre will start a centre of Excellence in Sikkim to preserve, conserve and improve the breed of Siri cows here.Genetic improvment of Siri cow breed will be done through IDF’s technology, better quality of Siri will be there.He said, that ‘concerned deptt authorities also need to propose for the Centre of Excellence. This would improve economy of Sikkim. ‘.Minister visited Milk Union centre here today,he is on an official tour.
Minister,Ranjan further stressed on more cooperative societies.’ We have set up a future target for milk production and products So deptt adked to creat at least900 more milk cooperatives,linked to milkmen- farmers raising livestock.This will improve their income.
MD Milk Union informed the Minister that there is 148%hype in milk products particularly Panner.
