Special PMVBRY Campaign Covers 39 Pharma Units in Sikkim; EPFO Gangtok Completes 85 Employer Registrations
Gangtok, Nov 15:A week-long special campaign under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY), aimed at expanding social security coverage in Sikkim’s pharmaceutical belt, concluded successfully on Saturday. The campaign, held from November 10 to 15, saw extensive outreach across the State’s key pharma clusters.
An EPFO team led by Shri Kesang Namthak Tenzing, Regional PF Commissioner, along with Enforcement Officer Shri Hemant Kumar Das and State Nodal Officer Shri Arjun Kumar Sharma, conducted awareness drives in 39 pharmaceutical establishments across Gangtok, Pakyong and Namchi districts.
Support was also extended by Assistant Labour Commissioner, Namchi, Shri Mohan Chettri, particularly during visits to major units such as Alkem, Micro Lab and IPCA. Labour Inspectors from Rangpo and Namchi joined the campaign in their respective areas to strengthen outreach to industry stakeholders.
The programme witnessed active participation from Plant Heads, HR managers and contractors of the pharma companies, reflecting broad industry engagement. The campaign resulted in 85 employer registrations under Part B of PMVBRY, marking a significant achievement for the sector.
During the special drive, the team conducted 31 seminars and workshops, along with 26 social media interactions and press briefings, bringing total outreach activities to 60 over the week.
The pharmaceutical cluster accounts for more than 50% of Sikkim’s total EPF contributory membership, making it one of the state’s most critical employment hubs. The successful conclusion of the campaign is expected to support wider enrolment, strengthen compliance and extend social security benefits to more workers across the State,according to PIB Gangtok.
