Following the recent calamities in North Sikkim, BJP State President DR Thapa, accompanied by State Vice President Shri Dinesh Chandra Nepal, Gangtok District President P. Dorjee Lepcha, Mangan District President Nim Pintso Bhutia, and other party executives, visited the district to collect status updates on the rescue missions and to meet affected locals and tourists.
The BJP team first met with the District Collector at DAC Mangan to assess the situation following recent heavy rainfall, landslides, and a tourist vehicle accident. The District Collector provided a comprehensive status report on the major incidents reported thus far.
This was followed by a visit to the Mangan District Hospital, where they reviewed the operations of the Dialysis Centre under the Prime Minister National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP). They engaged with patients and the medical team to understand their needs. The team also inspected the Sankalang 🌉 site, evaluating the damage caused by the high-velocity flow of the River Teesta.
BJP team intended to visit all areas affected by the recent calamities, however, due to continuous rainfall and poor road conditions, they were advised to avoid traveling in the adverse conditions.
The BJP reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the people of North Sikkim, extending heartfelt solidarity to those affected by the recent calamities.
